When we analyze the technological evolution in the past few years, we realize that the telecommunications sector is one of the markets that are most constantly undergoing evolutionary leaps. If we take into account the popularization of cell phones and introduction of the Internet for personal computers, followed by the creation of smartphones and wearables, we have a scenario of significant changes. For this reason, keeping up-to-date is important for anyone connected to this sector.
With this in mind, we put together the three greatest expectations for this sector in 2018, according to Khomp`s point of view. Check it out!
LTE for fixed broadband
The Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology has been on the rise in 2017. With the regulation of fixed broadband service provision expected in 2018, it is projected that in places with limited access to high speed broadband connections, this theme will gain even more momentum.
LTE is known as the fourth generation of mobile telephony and broadens the connection possibilities, with data transmission exceeding the gigabits per second scale. Because of this, broadband services are expanding and small carriers are standing out in the sector. According to data from Anatel, accesses to this modality have grown 5.5% in the past 12 months and the small providers represented about 70% of that amount in January and April of this year. When specifically talking about LTE, access using this technology reached 1.33%, exceeding satellite connections. These data help us understand what to expect regarding broadband services in the coming year.
IoT
The Internet of Things (IoT) also tends to grow in 2018. This is because the domestic market is starting to open their eyes to this technology and expand this concept, providing solutions to the great public implemented in the industry, civil engineering, and other professional uses. IoT is making it possible to create smart cities, in which services are connected, innovative, and sustainable.
According to information provided by IDC Brazil, IoT already represents 5% of the investment in some companies. The projection is that by 2020 the concept will reach 13 billion dollars in Brazil.
Khomp is already part of this context with the Mobile Intercom and, more recently, with the ITG 200 gateway – a platform for integrating telemetry solutions, which can be applied to Health, Nutrition, Agriculture, and any other sector that needs temperature monitoring for maintenance of their supplies.
Cloud-based Telephony
The possibility of hiring cloud-based technology services has revolutionized work methods with its practicality and communication quality. A cloud-based telecommunication service that is bound to expand in 2018 is telephony.
Cloud-based telephony makes corporate environments more flexible, allowing for reduction and expansion of operations, as well as changes in location in an easier way than the traditional model. Call recording is also made easier.
According to information provided by Synergy, cloud-based telephony services have surpassed traditional PBX since 2015 and there is an expected growth of 9.2% in the next three years.
“New technologies of network processing in association with cheaper and more stable data links will promote cloud-distributed telephony systems with greater service integration”, explains Giancarlo Macedo, Khomp’s CEO. This means more security and possibilities when it comes to cloud-based telephony.
