Tel adopts KMG 3200 MS for processing prepaid calls from Oi

High performance, inter-operability and security were among the selection criteria adopted by Tel to meet Oi

 

The Tel challenge

The company Tel participated in a RFP (Request For Proposals) process from Oi, which requested proposals for technical solutions to attend a large volume of prepaid calls. All Oi calls were delivered with SIP protocol. To meet this demand, it would require hardware capable of converting network media and protocols with security and inter-operability, essential requirements for the telecom operator.

 

The solution

With a R&D process, Betta Group‘s Professional Services department and Khomp‘s Product Engineering team identified an opportunity that resulted in a customized solution for reading and routing decision, as specified in the project requirements.

The technical proposal was evaluated and approved by Tel. According to Maeltho Rios, national IT manager, “we concluded that Khomp’s KMG 3200 MS was the right choice for us.” Because of its high performance, security, scalability and inter-operability, the equipment was selected to perform the conversion of the media and protocols of a high volume of Oi’s prepaid calls.

With a flexible and programmable routing system, the KMG 3200 MS media gateway can be used to route calls to the Avaya Aura Session Manager without the need of any additional hardware. The SIP call routing was based on the extended field, according to the needs of the Tel project. In addition, the high quality of the audio provided by the equipment improved the customer’s experience with Oi, reducing communication time and the number of callbacks.
