The open source program Elastix recently had its code privatized in a purchase and sale process with the 3CX company. This transaction made orphans of thousands of users who had developed their PBX solutions based on the free distribution of Asterisk. Elastix has more than 100,000 installations worldwide and tens of thousands of monthly downloads, according to the company’s own disclosure.
It’s no different in the Khomp scenario: thousands of customers have purchased Khomp hardware to develop their telephony applications based on the Elastix code. For this installed base, the existing integration with Khomp structure will be handled in a very simple way.
Previously, the installation of the channel was done through the Elastix interface in the Addons. Currently, those who continue to use the Elastix platform will find that Addons are no longer active. However the installation of Khomp Channel Driver can be done by running the installation package via the command line for installing the driver. The same goes for updates. All Khomp’s pre-existing features will remain available to users.
New Issabel to Asterisk and its use with the Khomp channel
Another solution offered by Khomp for this scenario is the compatibility of your channel with the newly released Issabel.
Issabel is the new open software-based project that was born as a fork of its predecessor, in order to provide continuity for previously installed platforms and thus offer an alternative to the open source community. Khomp adapted its channel driver to be compatible with this new open source platform as well. As with Elastix, the Khomp configuration interface remains integrated with the Issabel system, and installation can be done by running the driver package.
In addition, Khomp is working closely with the Issabel development team to integrate the channel and make it available natively in the platform. In this way, Issabel users will soon be able to count on all the features available when using Khomp hardware natively in their Issabel PBX.
Snep Livre: Made in Brazil
Snep Livre is another option for those who want to enjoy an open source IP PBX. Developed in Santa Catarina – Brasil, the company Opens, its main sponsor, maintains a network of developers and active partners for the evolution of this code, which is also a graphical distribution of Asterisk.
In this project, the Khomp channel has already been natively integrated, which greatly facilitates its activation with the EBS (External Board Series) equipment line, Appliances and other products in the Khomp portfolio. This native integration allows you to perform all equipment configuration through a simple and intuitive graphical interface.
What about the other distributions?
Khomp has been working in partnership with leading developers of open source telephony solutions to facilitate the activation of its hardware with these projects. It is important to note that for any other graphic interfaces and/or projects developed based on Asterisk or FreeSwitch, Khomp channel driver code is fully integrable.
