Cloud IP PBX and Unified Communications: day-to-day advantages

Improvements and cost reduction are common words when talking about corporate telephony network. The first step is always the PBX, which usually promotes cost reduction, since, among other facilities, calls between branches of the same company are free of charge.

The evolution from the old telephone exchange to the PBX, followed by the IP PBX, brought gains in cost and productivity. The new stage of this solution is to add more services to your network, since telephony is only part of a company’s communication ecosystem.

New features for an IP PBX

The IP PBX performs telephony calls over data networks. Conversion of voice into data and vice-versa can be performed by ATAs installed at the endpoints, or gateways placed before the IP PBX, so that the calls are sent as data packets through the Internet, taking advantage of the already installed network.

Since investments in equipment for this entire structure, often makes the operation unfeasible, a new alternative has emerged: the cloud-based IP PBX. With the cloud-based IP PBX solution, instead of investing in an entire infrastructure of their own, companies can hire the IP PBX as a service.

The cloud-based IP PBX comprises the use of a dedicated IP telephony server, hosted by a data center anywhere in the world. Thus, the service subscriber will enjoy all features offered by an IP PBX through a well-structured virtual environment.

To connect to the service, the subscriber may choose a 100% VoiP-based topology, with IP telephone extensions. In this scenario, we strongly recommend investing in network security. On the other hand, if the subscriber chooses a scenario with common telephones (E1/T1 or FXS analog extensions), they can use a gateway for conversion of incoming and outgoing calls.

Get to know Khomp’s User Media Gateway line: connection to IP telephony with modular interfaces, low density of channels, and user-friendly Web Interface, which allows for easy monitoring, diagnostics, and management of the entire system.

Again, it is important to correctly measure call demand, so that the project can include appropriate bandwidth and security measures to satisfy the solution needs.

Unified Communications

Inclusion of IP technology made the alternatives for communication even broader. The well-known Unified Communications is focused on making it easier for users, as well as on multichannels.
This means that now you can answer a call made to your work extension straight from your cell phone. It is also possible to reply to an e-mail with a voice message, as well as take part in a conference call using your computer.

This range of services opened a huge market for Telecom companies, which have to invest on infrastructure, but get an interesting return, offering practical, secure, and quality services, all by means of a PBX.
